Global Energy Transition Lead, Climate Bonds Initiative (CBI)

Ana is a highly experienced professional in the field of the global energy transition. As the Global Energy Transition Lead at Climate Bonds, Ana is entrusted with the critical task of spearheading a credible, rapid, and ambitious energy decarbonisation transition. Her responsibilities include developing robust sustainability standards for the energy sector, including actionable mitigation, adaptation, and resilience criteria, and advocating for regulatory frameworks at the regional level.

A key aspect of Ana's role is to ensure alignment with the broader Climate Bonds resilience agenda, which encompasses physical, social, economic and ecosystem resilience. To achieve this, she leads the development of the energy sector criteria that underpin the Climate Bonds taxonomy and standards. These criteria call for assessment frameworks for investments, assets, economic activities, and companies in all major sectors relevant to capital markets.

With over 20 years of international professional experience, Ana brings a wealth of knowledge to her role. She has been instrumental in applying science an innovation to facilitate the low-carbon energy transition. Her contributions include supporting the development of national and regional energy strategies and the implementation of decarbonisation plans.

Ana's educational background further strengthens her expertise. She holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Dresden, Germany, and a PhD in Energy Engineering from the University of Pisa, Italy, specialising in global energy systems. Ana has also completed the Management Development Programme at IESE Business School.

Prior to her current role, Ana spent six years as energy science/technology research (in Germany, Italy and the USA), and decade in the private sector focusing on the international development of technology solutions for sustainability, during which she worked as Executive Director of Technology for a world leading company listed on the NASDAQ and IBEX 35S. She then moved to the European Commission as a Senior Scientific Officer in the Directorate for Energy, Transport and Climate. During her six years there, Ana provided scientific and technical support for energy, transport, and climate policies in the European Union's transition to a low-carbon society.
