MARGARET TRIAS


 
 

Margaret Trias is a senior consultant and is based in St. Catharines, Canada. She holds a B.Sc. in Biology and a Masters of Applied Science in Civil Engineering and has over 18 years of environmental, social and engineering experience covering the power generation, mining and metals, water resources and infrastructure sectors with a focus on hydropower and dams.

She has carried out environmental and social impact assessments (ESIA) for hydropower projects and dams, wind and solar power projects, transmission lines, and infrastructure projects in Canada and internationally. She has managed and participated in over 50 dam safety reviews, has carried out hydrology studies, water management plans, wind resource assessments and power and energy assessments for a wide range of projects.

Her experience includes independent engineer, environmental and social due diligence reviews and audits involving the application of a wide range of standards such as the Equator Principles, World Bank Group and IFC Performance Standards, CAF Safeguard Policies, World Commission on Dams Guidelines for Good Practice, regulatory frameworks of various jurisdictions as well as other standards. Margaret has taken part in the application of the protocol in Asia, Europe and Central America. Margaret is fluent in English, French and Spanish.
