Tashi Pem, a seasoned Bhutanese hydropower expert with a Master's in Environmental Management and Development from The Australian National University, has built a career centered around the hydropower sector. With a robust background in Civil Engineering, she has held key positions, including Technical Advisor to major hydroelectric projects in Bhutan. As the former Chief Engineer at the Department of Hydropower and Power Systems, Tashi played a pivotal role in steering Bhutan's hydropower initiatives, contributing significantly to the nation's sustainable energy landscape. During her tenure, she served as the Engineering Officer overseeing the construction of the 1200MW Punatshangchhu-I and 1020MW Punatsangchhu-II Hydropower Projects. She also served as the Board Director for the Druk Green Power Corporation, the sole public utility company mandated to build and operate all hydropower projects in the country. Fluent in English, Dzongkha, Hindi, and Nepali, Tashi's influence extends internationally, contributing to hydropower projects in India and Nepal.

Currently a Safeguard Specialist consultant with the Asian Development Bank, Tashi continues to shape the industry, ensuring adherence to environmental and social standards while actively contributing to innovative projects like the Pumped Storage Hydropower initiative in the Himalayas.
