Ajit Garg
Ajit Garg is a Principal Hydropower Engineer and Specialist Project Manager with Hydro Tasmania (Entura), with over 20 years of international experience in the planning, feasibility assessment, due diligence, design review, and delivery of hydropower and pumped‑storage projects. His work spans Asia, Southeast Asia, the Pacific and Australia, supporting both public and private sector stakeholders across the full project lifecycle.
Ajit has led and undertaken technical due diligence, feasibility studies, lender and investor reviews, and project preparation for hydropower schemes at feasibility, construction and operational stages. His work integrates engineering assessments with cost and schedule appraisal, climate‑resilience considerations, and operational risk assessment, supporting objective, evidence‑based evaluations aligned with international best practice and sustainability frameworks.
He brings strong capability in portfolio‑level assessment, having evaluated large numbers of hydropower assets to support investment decisions, sector planning and project prioritisation. His experience includes pumped‑storage hydropower, encompassing scheme screening, capacity optimisation, layout development, and assessment of operational flexibility within constrained or multi‑use systems.
Ajit has extensive experience working within multilateral development bank and international financing frameworks, contributing to appraisal‑ready documentation, procurement readiness, tender review, risk mitigation planning and implementation strategies. He has also supported policy development, technical standards, and dam safety frameworks, alongside capacity‑building initiatives for utilities and government agencies.
Recognised for his ability to operate at the interface of engineering, sustainability, safeguards and project governance, Ajit is experienced in leading multidisciplinary teams, engaging stakeholders, and delivering high‑quality technical assessments.
