HydroSelect is the Hydropower Sustainability Early-Stage Decision-Making Tool, developed to guide developers, governments, financial institutions, and civil society toward more sustainable hydropower project decisions by providing a clear, objective framework for evaluating potential schemes at the very outset. In response to rising global expectations for responsible energy infrastructure, embedding ESG considerations from the start prevents costly delays, community conflicts, and environmental impacts, while also enhancing the bankability of hydropower projects.

Table 16 provides a template for users able to rate multiple project options. These may be alternative projects for development over a widely ranging geographic area, or various project options for one area to meet a demonstrated need.
Table 17 provides a template for users able to rate a single project option. It includes not only the ratings, but also further actions, timing and responsible parties for those actions, and additional notes.
User Feedback Survey
HydroSelect is currently in a 1-year global trial period. Feedback and insights from tool users are highly encouraged during this time. All comments will contribute to ongoing refinements and improvements, and suggestions may be incorporated into the final version of the tool.
