Sustainability assessment overview

The Electropalmor project is the first small-scale, community-led hydropower initiative assessed under the Hydropower Sustainability Standard. With a footprint of just a few hectares on voluntarily provided private land, it delivers reliable, low-cost electricity with minimal environmental impact. Operated by a local workforce and supported by community labour, it has strong social backing and organisational resilience. Ongoing collaboration with local institutions aims to safeguard the watershed.
Electropalmor demonstrates how small-scale hydropower can drive sustainable development and serve as a model for other remote communities.

The public consultation period on the Preliminary Assessment Report of Electropalmor ended on 28 October 2025.

Evidence of the distribution is available here.
