Marie Egerrup
Marie Egerrup is a principal environmental scientist with more than 30 years of experience in aquatic science, environmental management, and renewable energy. She has spent over two decades in the hydropower sector with Hydro Tasmania and Entura, where she has held senior technical and leadership roles including principal scientist, program manager, and team manager.
Marie specialises in aquatic ecology, hydrology, environmental flows, and the integration of sustainability into hydropower development. She provides strategic environmental advice to support new developments and major asset refurbishments, ensuring projects meet regulatory requirements while aligning with broader sustainability objectives. Her recent work includes leading hydrological modelling inputs, overseeing aquatic and greenhouse gas lifecycle assessments, and contributing to environmental and social impact assessments (ESIA) for major projects.
Marie has played key roles in both Hydropower Sustainability Protocol assessments and Hydropower Sustainability Standard assessments. She has been embedding sustainability frameworks into project planning and delivery and she has been the point of contact for an unofficial Hydropower Sustainability Standard assessment in Tasmania recently. She is also recognised for fostering strong partnerships with natural resource management groups, NGOs, and community stakeholders.
Marie holds a Master of Science in Aquatic Ecology from the University of Copenhagen.
