Mwelwa Sata

 

Mwelwa is a results-driven Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) professional with over 13 years of experience in impact assessment, hydropower, transmission, and infrastructure development projects across Zambia and the Southern African region. She currently serves as a SHE Officer on the World Bank-funded Kariba Dam Rehabilitation Project, where she leads compliance monitoring, stakeholder engagement, and the integration of EHS safeguards in complex transboundary operations.

She holds an MSc in Public Health and a BSc in Molecular Biology and Genetics, with additional postgraduate qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety as well as Environmental Management. Mwelwa is certified in ISO 45001, ISO 9001, and SHEQ systems, and has undergone specialized training in ESG principles and audit protocols.

She is an active member of the Zambia Occupational Health and Safety Association (ZOHSA), the Impact Assessment Association of Zambia (IAAZ), and the Zambia Monitoring and Evaluation Association (ZAMEA), where she currently serves on the Executive Committee and has contributed to the development of the association’s legal framework and governance structure
