Phillip Ziduche
Phillip Ziduche is a seasoned expert with over 16 years post-grad experience in Environment, Occupational Health & Safety, Sustainability as well as Project Management across Hydropower and infrastructure projects, Mining (Gold, Coal, Diamond) as well as conservation programmes. He provided EHS and Sustainability advisory and specialist services to the United Nations (UNOPS) as an International Consultant through UNOPS Head office in Copenhagen (SSC). He is a member of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Talent Pool on E&S Safeguards Advisors.
Currently the EHS Manager for Zambezi River Authority directly managing a portfolio of EHS related Projects including the Eary Warning System that spans 300KM downstream of the world’s largest man-made lake (Kariba Dam), the eDNA programme on specific sites of the Zambezi River for ecological and aquatic stock accounting as well as the corporate EHS system for current employer.
Successfully implemented major Hydropower Projects as Head of EHS unit, including Kariba South Power station Extension with the Zimbabwe Power Company and the transboundary Kariba Dam Rehabilitation Project with the Zambezi River Authority, a project co-funded by African Development Bank, European Union and the World Bank. Project proponent’s EHS expert for the Transboundary Batoka Gorge Hydropower Project preparation, including the project ESIA, while engaging with stakeholder institutions of interest including national environmental and conservation regulators of the Contracting States involved as well as UNESCO among other stakeholders.
Holds a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA), MSc in Environmental Management & OHS as well as a BSc in Geography and Environmental Studies. Professional member of relevant internationally accredited bodies including IAIA and IOSH.
Other qualifications and key competences include ISO lead Auditor (ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO 9001), ISO 3100 – Risk Management, PRINCE2 for Project Management, NEBOSH IGC, Mine Blasting Licence, WB ESF, Certified User of the Hydropower Sustainability Standard and holds a legal licence with internationally reputable Hydropower Sustainability Alliance to undertake Hydropower Sustainability Assessments.
