Rumbidzai Chidzenga-Tsodzo
Rumbidzai Chidzenga-Tsodzo is a Professional Civil and Water Engineer and Project Management Professional (PMP®) with over seven years of experience in the planning, implementation, and management of large-scale water, energy, and infrastructure projects. Her expertise encompasses quality control and assurance in power plant construction, coordination and supervision of dam safety program management processes, and community engagement through public safety awareness initiatives.
She currently serves as a Dam Safety Monitoring Officer at the Zambezi River Authority (ZRA), a bilateral organisation jointly owned by the Governments of Zambia and Zimbabwe, mandated to ensure the safe and sustainable management of the Kariba Dam. In this role, she coordinates the dam surveillance program, structural performance monitoring and analysis, conducts dam safety inspections and risk assessments, and leads the development and implementation of mitigation measures that support the long-term safety, resilience, and reliable operation of critical hydropower infrastructure.
Rumbidzai is an active member of ICOLD's Dams and Sustainability Working Group, where she contributes to professional dialogue on the intersection of dam safety, sustainability, and responsible infrastructure development.
Her multidisciplinary background across engineering, project management, dam safety, and sustainability equips her with a well-rounded perspective that is especially valuable in assessing the performance of hydropower projects against the Hydropower Sustainability Standard.
